Slab leak detection and repair

Concrete slab cut open showing a repaired water line with a new PEX fitting

Many Tri-Cities homes sit on concrete slabs with water lines running underneath (or inside) the concrete. When a line fails down there, the first signs are indirect: a warm patch on the floor, the sound of water when everything's off, or a water bill that jumped for no obvious reason.

How slab leaks show up

What detection involves

Good leak detection is non-destructive first: pressure testing, acoustic listening equipment, and sometimes thermal imaging pinpoint the leak before anyone cuts concrete. The plumber can then discuss options: spot repair through the slab, rerouting the line overhead through walls, or abandoning the failed section entirely.

Why it matters here

A slab leak left alone doesn't just waste water. It undermines fill under the foundation and can feed mold. If the meter's moving with everything off, don't wait to see if it gets worse.
